FASHFEST is Back in 2015!

The Canberra fashion event of the year is back with new Faces, a new venue, and bigger and better than ever! And the Faces of FASHFEST were announced this week!

They’re young. They’re fresh. They’re beautiful. And they’re trembling with excitement.

The new Faces of FASHFEST 2015, Hannah Claire McKenzie and Ken Scruton, were slightly stunned when told they had been selected out of  a record-breaking model casting call to represent Canberra’s pre-eminent annual fashion event at the highest level. But they soon got over it and within a matter of days were at their first launch, sporting smart black and white FASHFEST t-shirts and posing in front of a brand new Audi in a large photographic studio at Canberra Institute of Technology.

“The core team at FASHFEST never sits still,” says Andrea Hutchinson, co-founder of the event and co-founder of HAUS Models. “For the first two years we had supermodels representing the event. This year we decide to break boundaries and have not one, but two Faces, and a male and female selected from the 2015 model casting. The two Faces are natural beauties.”

Hannah and Ken, both from Canberra, really had that something special when presenting to the independent panel of five judges at the casting—which this year attracted 300 model hopefuls including local and interstate—and their selection was unanimous by the judges. Taryn Williams, Director of Wink Models and a member of the judging panel says, “They were confident on the catwalk, and just stood out from the crowd. They just have that something special.”

Hannah, in Year 12 at Dickson College, has loved performing since she was a little girl, taking up singing, dancing and acting and performing in a number of musicals. She first modelled in 2013 when helping out a graduating photography student from Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), and has since completed two catwalk workshops with HAUS Models.

Ken, in his third year at the University of Canberra, intends to complete a Master’s of Physiotherapy. He has a strong artistic side, as well as a passion for sports, and is into music (plays guitar), art and good clothes, and was on the catwalk at the inaugural FASHFEST in 2013.

Both Faces of FASHFEST will sign a year’s contract with HAUS Models. They’ll participate in professional photo shoots in the lead-up to the event, will appear in the 2015 tvc (in production now), and on all publicity material. Through HAUS, Hannah and Ken will also receive valuable training to enhance their modelling skills.

FASHFEST 2015 will be held 13 – 16 May at a new venue—the National Convention Centre, which will be transformed by the talented team at Elite Sound and Lighting, a platinum event partner. Elite has been with FASHFEST since it first rolled out the red carpet in the capital.
